People often seem surprised when, as a vegan, one confesses a love of chocolate. "But chocolate isn't vegan..!"
It may come as shock to the consumer of the vegetable fat-bulked, dairy diluted 'confection' most commonly marketed as 'chocolate' in the UK that cocoa does, in fact, come from a bean. The contents of these pages are 'veganised' versions of (or tangents from!) selected recipes from Joanne Harris' Little Book of Chocolat, created as a companion to her best selling novel. I went off on wonderfully indulgent chocolate discovery mission after reading the trilogy and these ideas and recipes are the resulting feast. If you've read the book (or seen the film) you'll never put a 'e' on the end again... It just tastes better in French. |
