Method
- Bring the water to the boil and add the beans
- Cook until the covers come off the beans and the smell changes (you may need to add more water during the cooking)
- Stir in the sugar and serve

Tips and Comments
- I met Jenny in April 2013 and she gave me this recipe when we were discussing the difference between Chinese and English tastes and how English cooking only ever uses beans in savoury recipes. She told me her grandmother used to make this for her and serve it as an afternoon tea with cakes!
- You can also make it with red beans but it will take much longer to cook
