Method
- Place all the ingredients in a slow cooker, retaining half the water you plan to use (depending on how thick you like soup)
- Cook on low for 3 hours and then add the remaining water (at boiling point).
- Cook for a further hour and serve with freshly baked crusty bread

Tips and Comments
- Serve with a dash of Tabasco or some flaked chilli for an extra warming spiciness!
- Can also be cooked more quickly on the hob but won't be quite as flavoursome as cooked the slow way.
